Board of Studies for Indigenous Education

A committee of Academic Board

At its 11/3 meeting on 3 August 2011, the Academic Board resolved that the Board of Studies for Indigenous Education be disestablished with immediate effect.

Academic Board resolved to 'disestablish the Board of Studies for Indigenous Education, noting the Vice-Chancellor's intention to establish the Indigenous Strategies Committee' (AB 11/57).

The Vice-Chancellor's Indigenous Strategies Committee held its inaugural meeting on 13 October 2011. The Committee is strategically focused and responsible for the development and across-University progression of the objectives contained in the UTS Indigenous Education and Employment Policy and subsequent initiatives contained in both the UTS Indigenous Education and Wingara Indigenous Employment strategies.

Additional Indigenous planning and governance structures, such as the Vice-Chancellor's Indigenous Advisory Committee and the following five specialist sub-committees were established in early 2012:

  • Indigenous Recruitment and Outreach Committee
  • Indigenous Student Services Committee
  • Indigenous Studies Committee
  • Indigenous Research Committee
  • Wingara Indigenous Employment Committee.

Further detail on the above committees may be found at Jumbunna Institute for Indigenous Education and Research.
