Business Information System (BIS)

Purpose of the BIS

The Business Information System (BIS) is a comprehensive online business tool that has been developed to record and manage the University's business activities. The system records details on the following University business activities:

  • business names
  • domain names
  • commercial activities
  • contracts and agreements, including deeds
  • entities
  • leases
  • memoranda of understanding (MOU)
  • patents
  • trademarks.

The BIS is designed to:

  • support the local registration and management of business activities
  • provide email notifications of registration and of BIS approval following registration
  • be the primary University system supporting the renewal processes and the management of the expiry of business activities
  • allow the University to identify related business activities and existing arrangements with companies or organisations, and
  • allow faculties and units to generate reports on business information stored in the BIS.

This system is managed by University Records. Please contact the BIS Administrator (see Contacts) for further details.

Getting access

Any staff member may be given access to the BIS to monitor and/or update their business activities. The faculty or unit BIS Liaison Officer will determine what level of access is required. (See Managing a BIS record for details of access levels.)

To access the BIS, complete the Request Access to the Business Information System form (PDF) and forward it to the BIS Administrator (see Contacts for contact details).

Note: For update access, training is required before access will be enabled.
