Social Justice Committee

The Social Justice Committee reviews UTS social justice performance against current objectives in the light of the data reported in the relevant university and statutory reporting requirements.

Terms of reference

The Social Justice Committee shall:

  • review UTS social justice performance against current objectives in the light of the data reported in the relevant statutory reporting requirements
  • monitor the university’s progress against the objectives of the UTS social justice initiatives contained within the relevant UTS policies and plans
  • advise the Council on the performance of the university on social justice matters that may assist the university in achieving its objective in this area
  • work in partnership with the university, to promote UTS as a university that values social justice, within their respective communities and networks, and with government.

Number of meetings

The Social Justice Committee meets a minimum of twice per annum.


The Social Justice Committee consists of the following positions:

  • Chair: an external member of Council
  • four other members, including up to two who may also be members of Council, with qualifications or experience related to social justice
  • Vice-Chancellor or nominee.
